We would like to offer you a chance to get to know the culture and traditions of the Haya. If you are interested you should start preparing for your internship about two months beforehand.
Tasks
- care for and educate the orphans for pre-school-aged children
- regular visits to the foster parents
- care and maintenance for old and diseased people as well as widows and widowers in the surrounding villages
- maintenance for the kitchen facility for the enrolled pupils
- cooperation with the UWAKIKI-Womengroup
- take part on member meetings and assemblies of other NGOs
- cultivation of trees for reforestation
- collaboration on agricultural projects for ensuring food
- breeding of goats and chickens
- work on the forwarded tasks from the Circle of UWAKIKI Friends
- regularly contact the Circle of UWAKIKI Friends
Accommodation
- you will be warmly welcomed by the Kakyaija family
- a separate room with a huge bed is yours
- your permanent contact person is Jescar Karumuna
- the regular meals will show you the regional cooking style
Requirements
- full age
- respect the culture of the Haya people
- autonomy, ability to assert yourself, as well as empathy
- some adjustment to language and culture as preparation
- good English knowledge, some basic knowledge of the Swahili language would be useful
- minimum duration of an internship is 4 weeks
- a certificate will be granted after you have handed in your field report
Finances
- you pay for the journey, visa fees, transportation costs in Tanzania or similar matters
- for food and accommodation you pay 2 € per day and as a donor for UWAKIKI 1.50 € per day (that means a total of 3.50 € per day)
- no broker fees or the like
